Building an Augmented Analytics Engine on the AppExchange for Halosight
Context
Halosight is a Salt Lake City-based augmented analytics company that extracts intelligence from the unstructured data hiding inside Salesforce orgs — case notes, emails, chat transcripts, documents, and knowledge articles. Organizations sit on enormous volumes of this unstructured data, but most of it goes unanalyzed because it doesn't fit neatly into reports or dashboards.
Halosight's vision was to build a native Salesforce application that could surface this hidden intelligence, combining it with traditional structured data inside Tableau CRM and Lightning Analytics. They needed a development partner who could help them think beyond what's obvious on the force.com platform and navigate the AppExchange go-to-market process.
Challenge
Unstructured data in Salesforce is plentiful but unwieldy. Case notes are free-text. Email threads are messy. Chat logs vary in format. Extracting meaningful signals — product mentions, customer sentiment, churn indicators, adoption patterns — requires processing that goes well beyond standard Salesforce reporting.
Halosight's team had the analytics and ML expertise, but they needed help with the Salesforce platform specifics: packaging a complex application as a managed ISV package, meeting the strict security review criteria, designing for multi-tenant environments, and building a product that felt native to the Salesforce UX rather than bolted on.
The stakes were high. AppExchange launches are one-shot opportunities to get right — a poor initial experience means bad reviews that follow you for years.
Approach
Aquiva provided ISV development consulting focused on getting Halosight to market quickly without cutting corners, across three areas: platform architecture, security review preparation, and go-to-market strategy.
Platform architecture. We helped Halosight understand the force.com landscape — governor limits, packaging constraints, multi-tenant isolation — and design their application to work within these boundaries while still delivering the processing power needed for analytics at scale.
Security review preparation. Salesforce's ISV security review is notoriously thorough. We guided Halosight through the process, identifying potential blockers early and ensuring the application met all requirements before submission.
Go-to-market strategy. Beyond the technical build, we helped Halosight avoid common pitfalls that trip up first-time AppExchange publishers — listing optimization, demo org setup, and the operational readiness needed to support enterprise customers from day one.
Outcome
Halosight launched successfully on the Salesforce AppExchange and earned a 5-star rating across verified reviews. The application now serves enterprise customers who use it for AI-powered meeting prep, account intelligence, and field sales enablement — processing unstructured data to surface insights that structured reports miss.
The platform has evolved from its original analytics focus into an AI agent for outside sales, helping sellers with intelligent meeting preparation, seamless note-taking, and per-account AI chat. It integrates with Service Cloud, Data Cloud, and Tableau CRM.
